September Empties

As September was a quieter month for me, I was able to try out and use up more beauty and bath bits. So here’s my September Empties.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

I got this sample sized mascara in the Benefit Dandelion Wishes set I bought. At first I wasn’t too keen on this mascara, but I’ve really grown to love it. It separates and lengthens lashes really well and also adds a reasonable amount of volume.

Repurchase? I already have!

Etude House My Beauty Tool Oil Control Paper Pact

I love this cute pink compact from Etude House. The sponge inside has a sticky back to help pick up the blot papers and I find it helps press the papers down to fully absorb oil. The blotting papers themselves are also fantastic.

Repurchase? I’ve already bought two more!

Etude House New I Need You Tea Tree Sheet Mask

This is the first mask I’ve tried from Etude House and also the first sheet mask I’ve used in quite some time. I had pretty low expectations, but this face mask impressed me. It helped reduce my blemishes, but mostly it really helped to brighten up my skin.

Repurchase? Not at the moment, as I’ve just bought some other sheet masks from Etude House.

The Body Shop British Rose Face Mask, Himalayan Charcoal Mask and Ethiopian Honey Mask (Samples)

I got these samples of the Body Shop’s face masks in store and I loved them all. The Rose mask really brightened and plumped up my skin. The Himalayan Charcoal mask helped reduce blemishes, as well as brightening and exfoliating my skin. Whilst the Ethiopian Honey brightened my skin and made it softer and hydrated.

Repurchase? Whilst I would love to buy all three of these face masks, the British Rose one is first on my list to buy full sized.

The Body Shop Strawberry Hand Cream

I’ve tried this hand cream before and was a bit undecided as to whether it worked. Fom using it this time, I feel that it does to an extent but it’s not the most hydrating hand cream. Despite liking the strawberry scented products from the Body Shop, I occasionally found this hand cream a bit too sickly and sweet this time.

Repurchase? Possibly again in the future.

Monu Spa Relaxing Bali Body Oil

I received this in June’s Birchbox and whilst I was happy to have a Body Oil in my collection, I was also doubtful that I’d like it. The scent is okay but not my favourite, as it’s a mixture of herby and a slightly artificial plastic smell.

However, this wasn’t quite as heavy or greasy as many other Body Oil’s I’ve tried in the past, but it does still take several hours until it completely absorbs into skin.

I did feel like my skin looked healthier after using this, but I didn’t find it the most exciting product to use. That said, it still did impress me.

Repurchase? Possibly, but I’m not sure I’d use up a full sized version of this.

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub

I purchased the Body Shop’s Fuji Green Tea set a while ago, as I find the scent clean and refreshing, however, I didn’t love this scrub. Despite initially feeling gentle to use, it made my skin sore and break out into a rash after each use. I managed to use this up as it was thankfully a small tub.

Repurchase? No!

Zoella Sugar Dip Scented Bath Salt Granules

I love these bath salts from Zoella’s Sweet Inspirations range. Not only is the sweet macaroon and almond scent warming but not sickly, but the scent really stays around long after use.

Repurchase? I already have.

Zoella Le Fizz Fragranced Bath Fizzer

Le Fizz is another product from Zoella’s Sweet Inspirations range and the only one that I found disappointing. Not only did it not melt or fizz away properly, but it lacked much scent compared to other products in the range.

Repurchase? No.

Zoella Bath Latte Bath & Shower Milk

The third and final product from Zoella’s Sweet Inspirations range is this body wash and bubble bath. Again it smells amazing and a small amount goes a long way.

Repurchase? Yes.

The Body Shop Pinita Colada Shower Gel

The Pinita Colada range was the Body Shop’s limited edition summer collection and I loved it. This shower gel was thick and creamy and had a beautiful pineapple scent.

Repurchase? Yes! I saw more bottles of this in my local store, so my partner’s stashed them away as presents for me.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash

I love the fresh lime and kiwi scent of this body wash and as it’s such a huge bottle it lasted me ages.

Repurchase? Yes.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush and Clean On Me Shower

I wrote a whole post about these shower jellies as they smell great and are fun to use. Sugar Crush has the wonderful lime and kiwi fragrance like the rest of the range and Clean On Me has a rose and bergamot scent.

Sugar Crush has a more jelly like texture and a fruity scent, more suited to a jelly shower product, however, I really enjoyed using both.

Repurchase? I’ve already repurchased the Sugar Crush Shower Jelly and I would buy the Clean One Me one again too.

The Body Shop Strawberry Body Sorbet

I got this free with a Body Shop order and I was excited to try it out. Whilst it smelt nice, I found the texture very different to what I was expecting. It felt sticky and the product would ball up on top of my skin. As it’s a sorbet, I was hoping it would feel light and refreshing once applied, which it wasn’t.

Repurchase? No. I couldn’t even use up this tube as I disliked it so much.

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products.

  1. I love that mascara. When I was a teenager I was obsessed with Benefit cosmetics, but I drifted away from it, as I got older, but in the last year I have slowly started using the brand again. First with the mascara and now with an eyebrow creme. I am obsessed! Plus the packaging is so adorable! ❤

  2. I have a tube of the Strawberry hand cream from The Body Shop waiting in a drawer to try so it’ll be interesting to see if I’m of the same opinion as you. At the start of the year when I first saw TBS body polishes they intrigued me but after reading what you think, I might steer clear 😂 xx

    1. Well usually I like the scent of the Strawberry hand cream. I think maybe I’ve just used so many fruity body and skin products the past few months, I’m a bit tired of them now. My own fault, the amount I bought😂 Haha well I found the Pinita Colada scrub from TBS great, just not the Green Tea one😊 xx

      1. I walked past a Body Shop store and put a little bit of the Pinita Colada scrub on my hands but I was testing the scent because I’m not the biggest fan of coconut but I didn’t mind it. I don’t the scrub would be the best product for my skin. Maybe I’ll pick up the small body butter! x

      2. A lot of people don’t love the Pinita Colada range as it’s more of a pineapple scent than the usual coconut, but I love the smell of it☺ The body butter and shower gel are both lovely😊 Has the Pinita Range been out there for long or just come out as it’s getting to summer where you are? xx

      3. Oh no. That’s a shame😔 Best stick to the body butter. It smells great☺ I wondered if they’d wait for your summer or whether it was just released everywhere the same time. So now I know☺ Makes sense to release it in New Zealand now in time for summer😊 x

      4. Haha yes that’s true! Do you then get the winter releases before us as your winter’s first? I’m still in summer mode, I think I’ll have to fly to AUS or NZ for some sun☺🌞 xx

      5. Aah what! They don’t know how to do it. You should get the winter range first so we can read reviews of all the products☺ Aaw really? The weather was odd here most of the year, then we had the hottest day in 105 years in September! Sadly it’s cooled down a fair bit now as it’s autumn x

      6. We should haha! I think it’s because The Body Shop is a British brand though so it wouldn’t be fair if The UK didn’t get the new products first. Weather is crazy! I personally don’t mind the rain or if it’s cooler but a bit of sun would be nice ☀

      7. That’s true. Seasonally though it would make sense☺ Lush is an odd store, as it’s British and yet the new stuff was released in the US first! Yes I agree. It’s just grey here at the minute. That’s why I’m not fond of autumn/winter, we barely get any sun, it just rains lol x

      1. Same here! Sometimes I think the bottles breed. The other day I went through one of the boxes under the bed and I thought – why do I have six tubs of flower pharm orange flower body butter? Uh, I need to give some of these away… secret santa, stocking fillers… But yeah, let’s use up what we already have. Good luck to us both! 🙂

      2. Haha I have a box of shower gels and bits and that too never seems to go down. I was thinking of including some in a give away! Definitely. It’s funmy we’re both such body wash hoarders😂☺ x

  3. Lovely post! 😊 I really liked the green tea scrub because of the texture. It was so good during summer. I’m sorry, it didn’t work for you. With the sorbet I’m totally with you. I think it’s one of the worse skin care products I’ve tried. I thought it was going to be quick moisturiser but instead I was still sticky even after 15 minutes of waiting.

    1. Thank you☺ I really liked the green tea scrub whilst I was using it, it was just once I got out of the shower my skin was sore😔 I agree. I thought it was going to have such a light, refreshing texture the sorbet. Instead it just feel sticky the whole time x

  4. Oh that Etude House blogging paper is so cute! Reminds me of the one I’m using from Too Cool for School. Can you buy just the refill papers for them?
I’m SO glad I’m not the only one who hates the Body Shop Body Sorbets! I did not think it hydrated my skin at all, and yes, it sat on top of my skin and didn’t hydrate. What a let-down. I know you don’t have Bath & Body Works in the UK, but I tried their version of the sorbet and they were 100x better!

    1. You can buy just the refills, but my sponge in the pack was a bit dirty and gross after using it so much. It’s a really cute compact though. I just want to reach for it more than other blotting papers😊 I really thought the Sorbet would be amazing, but as it just sat on my skin, it felt awful. I would love to go Bath & Body Works. If I get to go to a store in the future, I’ll remember that☺ x

  5. I really didn’t get on with the shower jellys from S&G, on my arms it caused spots to come up everywhere, but it was fine everywhere else, I’ve no idea why!
I really like TBS body sorbets, I’ve had the mojito one from last summer and I’m now on the Pina Colada, I don’t have very dry skin and feel body butters are normally too heavy where as these are just right for me!

    1. Aaw no that’s a shame. One of Soap & Glory’s scrubs has broke my arms and legs out bad! Wonder why. That’s good they work for you. My skin’s not very dry either, so I can see why you’d find a body butter too heavy x
