New Year’s Resolutions-March & April Update

It’s been a while since I’ve posted about my progress, so here’s a look at how I got on with my New Year’s Resolutions in March and April.

1-Start to exercise more

In March I went to the gym a few times, whereas in April I only went once as I was often out, away or working. Whilst I haven’t been going to the gym much, I have been doing a lot more walking.

2-Eat Healthier

In March I followed a reasonably healthy diet, with most of my treats being at the weekend. However, April looked a lot like this:

And this:

And this!

There was a lot of eating out, as well as Easter chocolate being consumed, so needless to say April wasn’t a healthy eating month.

3-Read one book per month

This is something I’ve failed miserably on lately. I seem to reach for travel and women’s magazines in my spare time, but no actual books. I need to change this soon, as I want to make sure I’ve read at least 12 books before the year’s out.

4-Watch 50 films with my partner

In March we only managed to watch a paltry one film! Which was:

-Before I Go to Sleep (DVD)

In April we somehow did a lot better and watched five films.

-The Danish Girl (DVD)

-King Kong (TV)

-Beauty and the Beast (Cinema)

-Hot Fuzz (DVD)

-Ghost (DVD)

5-Getting into a better sleeping pattern

I’ve finally started to make progress with my sleeping! Whilst I sometimes still go to bed super late, I have been sleeping earlier and finding it easier to get up in the mornings.

6-Do 2 new things per month

In March I somehow managed to do nothing new. Not one thing! But I more than made up for it in April.

I made Creme Egg Brownies for the first time.

I had a pinky/purple tint added to my hair.

Me and my partner explored Brick Lane properly and did it’s Sunday markets for the first time.

We went to watch the new production of Ghost the Musical together at Aylesbury Theatre.

We also visited a lot of other attractions on our UK breaks in April, such as Warwick Castle, Twycross Zoo and the Fashion Museum for the first time.

7-Visit three new places (Country, City, Town or Village)

In March we didn’t visit anywhere new, but in April we saw several new places.

On our Easter break we visited the UK’s smallest city, Wells.

The village of Cheddar (I’ve been before, but this was my first time with my partner).

We explored the city of Bath.

And stayed in the town of Warwick on bank holiday weekend.

8-Start learning to drive

I still haven’t sent off for another provisional license or started my lessons. My current target is to start once all the election stuff that I’m working on is done, which wont be until mid-July.

9-Use up what I have before buying more

I’ve still been pretty good at not buying as much as I used to. When we was away for Easter, I did go shopping. I got some items I’d run out of and quite a few things that I just wanted, but overall I’ve not been too bad at buying unneccesary items.

10-Take time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures

In March I did reasonably well with mindfulness, but April was a mixed bag. When I was away or on days out, I could appreciate the smallest of things but with an election being called, I’ve had to work more hours on weekends and juggle around my plans for the next few months. I hope to start practising mindfulness and appreciating all things big and small again soon.

Let me know how you’re getting on with your New Year’s Resolutions.

  1. I have a love hate relationship with March. I hate it because it is still kinda Winter but teasing Spring, but I feel bad, because it is the month everyone kinda hates. All in all girl you are doing really well! I think by this point everyone would have forgotten about their resolutions. Keep up the good work! ❤
Oh and Easter totally ,ales it may to forget about your diet! ;p ❤
