A Foodie Day in Camden

Camden is one of my favourite places in London. It has quirky shops, live music and great food.

As we hadn’t been in quite some time, we decided to make a day of it.

A car selfie as we drove to Camden.

Despite being cold, it was gloriously sunny day and lovely walking around.

We admired the street art.

Much of it inspired by the late Amy Winehouse, who sadly passed away at her home in Camden in 2011.

We browsed the unique and fun shops.

Listened to buskers performing along the streets, before heading to the KERB food market.

Our first stop was at V Burger, a vegan burger joint.

We had a Feisty Falafel burger each and it was good! So good that I already want another one.

The next stall we visited was Oli Baba’s, which sells halloumi fries.

I’m pretty fussy when it comes to halloumi and how it’s cooked, as I often find it can be too chewy and rubbery.

However, the way Oli Baba’s cook halloumi is perfection! The flavours from the mint, yoghurt and pomegranate seeds also worked so well.

After food, we explored the shops inside the main market.

Then after a couple of hours, we’d worked up an appetite and walked back to KERB.

We queued at The Cheese Wheel stall which is super popular. They make and cook fresh pasta, before spinning the pasta around in a giant wheel of cheese.

The pasta was nice enough, but in my opinion it was no better than a cheap, cheesy pasta you could make yourself. My partner ate most of this and whilst I’m glad we tried it, I wouldn’t have it again.

The final stall we visited was for churros.

With a chocolate and caramel dip they was just amazing!

After a fun day exploring Camden, we jumped back in the car and headed home.

    1. It is! I love visiting Camden☺ No there only used to be falafel places for vegetarians, there wasn’t loads of choice. Now there’s a lot of vegetarian and vegan stalls😊 x

  1. Those halloumi fries look yummy! I’ve never tried them and I only learned about them from your blog. 🙂 You’re a real connoisseur of them.
I’ve been to restaurants where do swirl the hot pasta in the giant cheese wheel! It’s so fun to watch although I’ve not actually eaten that type of pasta… good to know that I’m not really missing out.
Ah churros. My weakness. I haven’t had any in ages – it’s more of summer fair food item. I can’t wait to get them again.

    1. They was really nice! I don’t think many places do halloumi fries, they’re a bit of a speciality☺ I think it depends on your taste. My partner liked it, but to me it tasted like one of those packet pastas you cook with milk. It was a bit cheal tasting for me. Aaw really? We never see them in sumnmer, it’s at our winter food stalls reallt☺ Churros are great all year round xx

  2. Those churros! I’ve always wanted to try a proper churro, I tried one from a pizza place a couple of years back but it wasn’t very good and tasted of cardboard! Camden seems so fun 🙂 x

    1. Oh no, that’s a shame. We’ve had bad churros a few times where they’re too hard and cardboardy tasting. I like the food stalls the most for good churros and these ones were really nice😊 It is such a fun place x

  3. Camden is one of my favourite places and definitely one of the best places to go to get food. I love the Chinese stall they have, I forgot the name now but I literally go there every time. I’m craving it so bad now. Anyway my friends had those halloumi fries when we went at Christmas, I’m way too fussy for all the flavouring but they loved them! I always see the Amy Winehouse artwork etc. when I go to Camden, I had no idea that’s where she passed away. How heart-breaking. 😦 It’s so sad to think about but the tributes are so beautiful ❤ . That Falafel burger looks so delicious I want one!!! xx

    1. I love Camden for food! The Chinese stalls are always great to visit☺ Aaw you should try them. I wasn’t sure if I’d like them but the mint, yoghurt etc is really fresh tasting. She used to drink in the Camden pubs then later bought a house there. So that’s why there’s a statue and lots of artwork of her. They are beautiful tributes but it’s so sad as I loved her voice and music. It was so good! You’ll have to try it next time☺ x
