New York-Light Festival & Famous Sights

26th December 2019-Day Five

On Boxing Day me and my partner finally found time to go to Bath & Body Works and luckily for us most festive products had 75% off!

As the discount was so huge, I stocked up on amazing smelling shower gels, body lotions, bubble baths, hand creams and more!

After dropping my goodies off at our hotel, we headed to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.

Inside the museum.

The Memorial & Museum are both sobering experiences. To see the names and photos of so many who lost their lives on September 11th is heartbreaking, but it’s an informative and interesting museum that I would recommend.

Next to the museum is a shopping centre and train station where we grabbed lunch. We ate a very overpriced falafel bowl at Levant Express which was the only truly awful thing we ate in New York.

Shortly after, we took an Uber to one of the downtown piers where we’d booked a boat tour from. On a previous visit to the city we did a longer, open-top boat cruise but there wasn’t this option avaliable at the time we went.

We cruised for an hour taking in views of the famous Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge.

After a chilly but brilliant boat tour, we headed to vegan restaurant Spicy Moon for dinner.

We shared jumbo spring rolls.

As well as a veggie & tofu dry pot with rice and some noodles.

Full-up and satisfied after a day of sightseeing, we retired to our hotel for an early night.

27th December 2019-Day Six

On our last day in New York we visited the Empire State Building.

Despite pre-booking tickets the queueing process was a lengthy one, as there’s no set entry time.

Whilst the views are nice enough, the Empire State Building doesn’t hold the same appeal for me as Top of the Rock.

I find the views aren’t as mind blowing, it’s chaotic and crowded and it’s harder to get great photos. That said, I’m glad we did it as my mum and brother got to experience it.

Our second stop of the day was at the American Museum of Natural History, which is similiar to London’s Natural History one.

Our favourite parts were the dinosaurs, African animals and the evolution of mankind.

As it reached dinner time, we swung by Seasoned Vegan for some food.

To start we shared the lemon crusted nuggets which sounded amazing, but had an awful texture and average taste.

We also shared a burrito and quesadilla, both of which were nice.

And to finish, we all opted for chocolate cupcakes served with vegan ice cream.

Full up after a pretty decent meal, we took an Uber to LuminoCity Festival.

Situated on Randall’s Island Park, it was a bit off the beaten track but so worth visiting.

And with that our time in New York was over. All that was left for us to do was finish packing our suitcases and catch a morning flight home after the most amazing week.

    1. Aaw thank you, we had such a great trip😊 It is very hard to see, it’s an emotional place to visit but I would always recommend it. New York at night is gorgeous, especially the views by boat😊 The Light Festival was fantastic! Xx

    1. Aaw thanks hun. Dyker Heights and LuminoCity were two of my highlights😊💕 Aaw Rockefeller Center is so much better than the Empire State, we only really did a few things like that so my mum could experience it but she preferred the RC! We had such an awesome time xxx

  3. Wow. Lumino City looks lovely! Such a shame about the disappointing food & how The Empire State building was a bit too crowded to enjoy. 😦 That chocolate cupcake dessert is making me drool!

Thank you for sharing your time in NY with us, Dannii!! ♡
