May Bank Holiday Weekend-2021

Last weekend was a three day bank holiday special, yay! Whilst I get excited for an additional day off in general, I was super excited that things in England were opening up and we could go out. So here’s my weekend.

Saturday

My day started with a mani pedi. I’m not the sort of person who gets their nails done all the time (I’m more of a hair person) but as I hadn’t had my nails done since September; I was pretty excited!

I opted for a soft, pastel pink set with some coloured swirl details.

It was a relief to have my nails freshened up as my cuticles and everything was in need of some TLC.

After my pampering, me and my partner got the train into central London to hit the shops.

I grabbed a juice as shopping is thirsty work.

In the evening we wandered through the extremely busy areas of Soho, Carnaby Street and Covent Garden. London’s been pretty quiet the past year because of the pandemic, so this was the first time I’d say it was heaving.

You can only eat and drink al fresco so the streets were full of people having a good time.

We ate at new kid on the block; Pastan. This restaurant is in the very photogenic Neal’s Yard area of Covent Garden and they sell fresh vegan pasta, which is incredibly rare. (Fresh pasta is usually made using eggs).

I had a wonderfully fresh pasta with a tomato based sauce and my partner had a pretty special salad! It had fried gnocchi, vegan chicken and bacon and it was delicious.

Of course we had to get dessert. After all, who says no to hot, biscoff filled doughnuts? These are a dream.

Sunday

Sunday was a much more relaxed affair. We’d done a lot of walking the day before, so we laid in, did a weights class, food shop, etc.

I played around with my new-ish Natasha Denona Circo Loco palette which I love.

Monday

Bank holiday Monday was a biggie as it was our first day out, outside of London since October/November last year.

We drove down south to the seaside town of Brighton, as my partner booked me in at my favourite spa.

A casual look for me.

As there wasn’t much traffic, we got into Brighton early and had time to explore.

Brighton has lots of quirky little shops and fun areas to walk around.

We grabbed a vegan cinnamon roll and doughnuts from Down to Earth Coffee & Bakery.

Then sat outside Sabai Thai for a delicious al fresco lunch.

I had sweet and sour tofu & vegetables with rice, whilst my partner had a noodle dish and we shared some spring rolls.

Comfortably full, I went to Phoenix Eco Spa which is my favourite for treatments. It may be small, with just two rooms inside a hotel but the quality and atmosphere is top class.

Nothing is rushed, the treatments are wonderful and several staff own the hotel and spa so it’s supporting a local business that’s also vegan and eco friendly.

After a wonderful few hours of treatments, my partner collected me and we wandered along Brighton beach and pier.

We had a dinner reservation in Brighton but by the evening there was 50mph winds and rain, not ideal for eating outside.

We cancelled our booking but luckily for us we was both full! We had a good lunch and had shared baked treats earlier so we headed home.

It was a lovely weekend and it felt great to start getting back towards normality. Let me know if you enjoyed this post.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful weekends, all the doughnuts and baked goods get me salivating! Your nails are so pretty, I’ve never had mine professionally done (not sure I could be bothered haha and I don’t mind painting them myself) but it would have been a nice treat! xx

    1. Aaw I know. Brighton is great for food😍 I love my nails! Haha yeah I know what you mean. I don’t have them done that often as I hate going back every 2-3 weeks. But I thought this summer I’d book up and get them done as I never do my own nails xx
