Holiday to Lake Como-Last Days by the Lake

On our last full day in Como, we skipped eating breakfast in our hotel and walked into the city centre for brunch.

The beautiful streets of Como.

We shared tagliatelle and ravioli at our favourite food spot in Como, L’Ora della Pasta. This place is seriously good!

Full up, we walked down to the water to catch a boat. As it was Republic Day in Italy which is a national holiday, the queues were crazy! A combination of it being a national holiday and a long weekend meant there was no tickets for any of the boats for several hours.

However, we wasn’t going to let that ruin our day! We booked a taxi to take us to one of the nearest towns along the lake, Cernobbio.

Our first stop in Cernobbio was the shopping centre. I spent most of my time browsing Sephora and another shop Glossip, which was an affordable makeup store.

After a little shopping spree, we walked into the centre of town stopping off in a pretty park.

We got a slushie drink each and an ice cream as the weather was hot, hot, hot!

Once we’d cooled off, we wandered along the water which was gorgeous.

Before exploring the narrow streets of Cernobbio, full of stunning houses, wall paintings and hidden alleys.

I fell in love with Cernobbio and all of its winding little streets. Around every corner there was a small restaurant, a vintage shop or cobbled streets that led straight to the water.

We spent nearly all day in Cernobbio, as this little town impressed us massively.

After a wonderful day, we caught a taxi back towards Como, where we took the funicular up to Brunate for dinner.

Those views.

We ate at a place called Capolinea Bistrot and was really lucky to get a seat, as it gets super busy due to its incredible views.

View from our dinner table.

We both ordered a pizza each and wine. The food was good and even though service was a bit slow, I couldn’t complain as it meant I got to take in the stunning views for longer.

After the most perfect end to a perfect day, we got the funicular down and walked back to our hotel in Como.

On our last day, we checked out of our hotel but left our bags there, as we had a few hours before our train.

We sat by the water, taking in the views for the last time.

Before a final brunch at L’ora della Pasta.

We wandered the city a bit more, before picking up our bags from the hotel. Then it was time to catch the train from Como to Milan and then fly home, after a wonderful week exploring Italy and Switzerland.

  2. Cernobbio is straight out of coffee table books!
Oh that’s bad luck it was a national holiday there while you were on vacation. It’s so hard to know in advance. That happened to us once and the crowds were massive.
By the way, I love that top you were wearing!
I sense a beauty haul is coming up soon…? 😉

    1. It is such a gorgeous, Italian town😊 The funny thing is we knew it was Republic Day before we went, but when we was away we totally forgot! I was thinking why’s it so busy? Then it clicked😂 Aaw thank you. I bought the top in Milan. Haha it sure is! I’m just dreading taking all the photos😂 x

  3. All these images of nature and cities, places, etc. are stunning! Some people think they’re cliched but I always love seeing peoples snaps and I’m grateful when people share them, they hold memories and special meanings x
