New Year’s Resolutions-January Update

At the start of January, I posted ten New Year’s Resolutions that I hope to achieve this year. So here’s a look at how I got on in January.

1-Start to exercise more

I definitely achieved this goal in January. As well as going to the gym, I played badminton and also went for a long walk through a nearby country park and forest.

2-Eat Healthier

Another tick! For the most part I’ve eaten a lot healthier. I’ve been choosing healthier snacks such as fruit salads and vegetables and I’ve opted for the healthy options when I’ve eaten out.

3-Read one book per month

Sadly with late work finishes and not much time, I only made a small start on a book. I’m hoping to make some time to catch up soon.

4-Watch 50 films with my partner

In January we made a start by watching three films. They are:

What We Did on Our Holiday (On TV)

Fifty Shades of Grey (DVD)

Me Before You (DVD)

I’ll be doing a full list at the end of the year of all the films we watched.

5-Getting into a better sleeping pattern

This has well and truly fallen by the wayside due to a busy work schedule. I’m hoping to try to get into a better routine this month.

6-Do 2 new things per month

In January I did and tried several things for the first time.

Me and my partner went for a walk through a nearby forest and country park, which we’ve not done before.

I made my own chocolate chip and banana pancakes.

I tried the veggie flatbread at Pizza Hut.

I also tried a Donburi at Wagamama.

Me and my partner celebrated Chinese New Year in London. We also tried a Bubble Waffle and ate at Orient London restaurant for the first time.

7-Visit three new places (Country, City, Town or Village)

I didn’t visit any new places in January, but hopefully soon!

8-Start driving lessons

I haven’t started lessons yet, as the plan was to start around spring time. I’ll be re-applying for a new provisional license in the next month or so.

9-Use up what I have before buying more

As I got a lot of gifts at Christmas, there’s not been anything that I’ve really needed. The only things I bought in January were essentials, so I did well.

10-Take time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures

At times I have focused and enjoyed the simplest of things, like going for walks and exercising. However, as it was a busy month, I sometimes lost sight of the small things. I want to find more time to practise mindfulness.

Let me know how you’re getting on with your New Year’s Resolutions.

  1. Way to go girlie! You definitely got a pretty good start on your resolutions. And no need to fret on the things you didn’t do yet because you still have 11 more months to go 🙂 I love that you’ve found a good routine to add some work outs in the mix, I’m still struggling with that LOL And I’m with you on the book thing. I really wanted to do 1 book a month but time is so limited once I get out of work and then between weekend adventures, its tough to fit it in. But at least you started, that totally counts 🙂

    1. Thank you☺ Exactly, I don’t expect to do it all in a month. I’ve got 11 months to see how I get on😊 Aaw I agree it’s tough. I’ve been finishing work really late the past few weeks. I literally sleep for a few hours and then I’m back up. It’s been a struggle to fit in the gym and reading, but I’m trying☺ xx

  2. You’re doing great!
I always try to read more but blogging and reading blogs, it’s really challenging! To be honest, I’d rather read blogs than a book. 😛
I love the goal of trying new things! I’ve never made flatbread / pizza. I’d love to try it one day!
And I’m in the same camp as you to use up what I’ve got. I’m on a no buy now for 2 months!

    1. Thanks😊 I agree! I read online and blogs alot. Plus magazines, so it’s hard to settle down with a proper book. You should. I try to do new things big or small, even if it’s trying a new food☺ Good luck! At least we’re both well stocked up😊 xx

  3. Congrats hun, you’re doing so well!
It’s brilliant that you’ve made such a good start with the healthy eating and exercise, well done! & You can combine it with doing new things, like going for walks to different places with your partner! Who knows, you guys might be rock climbing next ha ha ha!
What’s the book you’ve started reading? xx

    1. Aaw thank you. I agree. We haven’t been for walks much as it’s cold, but hopefully soon😊 Haha you never know. We did walk and climb up a cliff one year, no harness lol. Once is probably enough though😂 I started reading a best in travel book xx
